Shows To Binge Watch This Winter

Colder temps and darker skies mean it’s time to throw on our fuzzy socks, pour a nice generous glass of wine, and turn to Netflix to immerse ourselves in a brand new (to us) show.  Here are our picks for the shows to binge watch this winter:

Arrested Development

An oldie (can you believe this premiered almost 15 years ago?!), but a goodie, whether you’re already a fan or are digging in for the first time, there are endless laughs to be had with Arrested Development.  There’s no better time to catch up with our favorite dysfunctional family then now…after the success of their Season 4 reboot, we’re officially expecting a Season 5 in 2018!

With 90’s fashion making a triumphant comeback in the world of fashion, it’s feels all-too-appropriate to lose ourselves in the world of our favorite late 90’s group of misfits.  While this cult classic only survived 1 season, revisiting the early days of some of our favorite stars (James Franco, Busy Phillips, and Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel to name a few) is reason enough to get caught up in the long-forgotten high school drama of our youths.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This downright hilarious series, complete with a lovable and all-together quirky cast of characters, follows Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper of The Office fame) as she re-emerges into the great, wide world after 15 years of captivity in an underground bunker.  From her drama-loving new roommate Titus to her equally as absurd employer Jacqueline (the inimitable Jane Krakowski), there’s truly never a dull moment in Kimmy’s world.  With 3 full seasons available on Netflix and an impending 4th season on its way, now is the perfect time to get hooked!

If you loved Amy Poehler on SNL and in hits like Mean Girls, Sisters, and Baby Mama, but have yet to dig into this mockumentary-style sitcom, then you’re seriously missing out.  Following Poehler’s lead character Leslie Knope on her mission to climb her way up the political ladder while, often single-handedly, attempting to revitalize Pawnee’s parks and recreational offerings proves to be both hilarious and heart-warming to witness.  Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Billy Eichner and more of our faves make this an incredible ensemble cast that goes together like PB&J.

If we had a dollar for every time we reference Olivia Pope in our office, we just might be able to afford that gorgeous DC apartment of hers!  When Scandal premiered in 2012, we were instantly hooked on the drama, thrills, and romance of this politically charged series.  On the surface, Olivia (Kerry Washington) heads up a crisis management firm, but there is so much more to be “handled” beneath the surface, particularly as her complicated relationship with President Fitzgerald Grant unfolds before our eyes.  Be sure to have a bottle or two of your favorite red wine on hand when you settle in for a night of Scandal!
