Shaw, an area that overlaps part of the U Street Corridor, is one of D.C.’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods. Shaw is rich in both African American history and musical culture. The neighborhood is home to classics such as Lincoln Theatre and Howard Theater, and what is now a major D.C. music venue, the 9:30 Club. While this area is considered to be a historic district, Shaw is now becoming a widely sought after neighborhood for those looking to live in the city. The neighborhood is developing a fantastic food and shopping scene – restaurants and shops are popping up left and right, drawing everyone into the Shaw neighborhood to see what all the new hype is about. Additionally, it is in close proximity to D.C.’s City Center, giving the neighborhood a convenience factor as well.

Adams Morgan Brunch DC

Our Favorite Brunch Spot

Hazel, located in the Shaw neighborhood, is not your average brunch spot, but we think that makes it even better. With their Dim-Sunday menu, you will find different yet delicious dim sum brunch options such as Kimchi Scramble, a Duck Muffin with Baked Egg and Fire Panda Mayo, and Duck Confit Salad, just to name a few. The vibes inside Hazel are just as good as the menu – the restaurant features work from local and domestic artisans, giving it an extremely authentic feel. What You Won't Find In Adams Morgan DC

What You Won’t Find

Because of it’s increasing popularity, peace and quiet is a neighborhood quality that you will likely not find in Shaw. Between all of the new restaurants and bars opening up and young individuals moving into the neighborhood, there is a constant hustle and bustle that will be hard to get away from. While this adds to the area’s appeal for some, others may feel a bit overwhelmed with the non-stop action. This flourishing neighborhood will keep you on your toes, and a sense of calm and quiet won’t be found here.
