Washington, DC has no shortage of events and activities to partake in.  We’ve narrowed it down to just a few of the DC events this October that we’re most excited about:

 

PUB Dread Pop-Up Halloween Bar

Themed pop-up bars have been all the rage here in DC over the past year or so.  As the super popular Game of Thrones pop-up came to an end, set-up began for a Halloween themed space.  A series of spookily-themed rooms and a bountiful list of fall-themed cocktails will likely make standing in line to get in worthwhile.  Make sure your phone is fully charged, there’s sure to be tons of photo-ops in store!

Taste of DC

The largest culinary festival in the Mid Atlantic returns this month and is expected to be bigger and better than ever.  Major selling points include “Restaurant Row”, featuring 65+ of the area’s best restaurants, a massive beer garden, 3 stages of live music and culinary entertainment, and an artisan market putting the spotlight on local makers and businesses.

When: Saturday, October 7th, 10 am – 10 pm; Sunday, October 8th, 11 am – 6 pm

The Wharf Kick-Off Celebration

Anyone living or working in the DC area has watched The Wharf development come out of the ground at an impressive scale and rate over the last year or so.  Now, as development nears completion, The Wharf is celebrating with a kick-off celebration. This four-day event is free and open to the public and will include a slew of live musical performances and firework displays, plus previews of all the neighborhood will have to offer, including restaurants, shops, kayaking tours, yoga, and more.

When: Thursday, October 12th – Sunday, October 14th

Night of the Living Zoo

The 21+ answer the ever popular “Boo at the Zoo“, Night of the Living Zoo is a night filled with spooky and spectacular performances and oddities, craft beer, food trucks, and after-hours access to animal exhibits.  This is an adults-only event, so leave the kiddos behind for a night out!

When: Friday, October 27th, 6:30 pm – 10 pm

Side Yards at The Yards Park

Embrace the spirit of the season and get warmed up for All Hallows Eve with this free and open to the public evening of sideshow entertainment!  Past years have featured everything from contortionists and magicians to fire breathers and sword swallowers.  Details are still being pulled together for this year’s event, but expect food and drink specials, live music, and more.

When: Saturday, October 28th, 5 pm – 9 pm
