2Amys
For the best Neapolitan pizza, 2Amys is the place to go. They opened their doors in 2001 as the District’s first D.O.C. certified pizzeria, meaning the Italian Government recognizes them as an establishment serving true Neapolitan pizza. With D.O.C. status, 2Amy’s follows the legal specifications for Neapolitan pizza ingredients and preparation methods. The menu consists of delicious wood-fired pizza, house cured meats, salads, and a large selection of Southern Italian wines. They do not take reservations and you can almost always expect a wait, but it is definitely worth it!
Pizzeria Paradiso
Pizzeria Paradiso is a high-quality pizzeria with multiple locations throughout the DC area – Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Old Town Alexandria. They opened their doors in 1991 and have been recognized as one of the District’s greatest pizzerias ever since. With quality ingredients and a wood-burning oven, they are able to consistently create top notch pizza. Enjoy your slices with one of the many beers they have on draft – their beer and wine list is extensive and changes frequently.
&pizza
&pizza is a fast-casual “anti-establishment establishment” that originated in New York City and has 11 (soon to be 12) locations throughout D.C. They offer signature pizzas, pizzas with a twist, and allow you to create your own pie – all of which use fresh and local ingredients. &pizza doesn’t just serve some of the best pizza in D.C. – they frequently get involved in the community by supporting local causes and brands, and are always open to new ways to serve. The hours vary with each location, but swing by for lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack – you won’t be disappointed.
We, The Pizza
We, The Pizza is relatively new to the DC pizza scene – they opened their doors in 2010 and are located right by the Capitol. They are open daily from 11am– 11pm and serve pizzas whole or by the slice. You can dine in or utilize their curbside pickup and delivery options as well. We, The Pizza serves your typical pizza favorites as well as more unique options – the menu includes items ranging from four cheese, pepperoni, and white to buffalo chicken, honey ham and pineapple, and barbeque pork. Their garlic knots paired with homemade marinara sauce are some of the best – definitely a must-try!
Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza
Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza is a locally owned restaurant serving New Haven Style pizza to the Clarendon, Columbia Heights, Friendship Heights, and Silver Spring neighborhoods. New Haven Style Apizza is a style of Neapolitan Pizza – charred yet chewy crust, tomato sauce, and light to no cheese would be considered a classic apizza. Pete’s serves apizzas made with local and natural ingredients. Their menu consists of both the classics and specialty pies. Additionally, they have several gluten-free and vegetarian options and even a vegan cheese offering. The clam topped apizzas are their specialty and a tribute to true New Haven Style Apizza.
