We know February is a short month, but the bitter DC cold seems to make it feel extra long. We love to cuddle up inside and relax during the winter months, but there are so many February events in DC that make the month more fun. Outdoor races (yes, outdoor), bar crawls, and the Chinese New Year are just a few of the things we are most excited for. Whether you prefer to get out and socialize or celebrate historical events, the District has you covered for the month of February. Bundle up, get out there and enjoy!

Cupid’s Undie Run

Cupid’s Undie Run is a staple February event in DC. Nothing says Happy Valentines Day like stripping down to your undies for a one-mile fun run. Not only is this a fun and silly event, but Cupid’s Undie Run is also for a great cause. The “run”/party is to benefit neurofibromatosis, a genetic tumor disorder that affects 1 in every 3,000 events. The day begins with a very “brief” run and continues with a major dance party, drinks, and fun. Create a team with friends or run on your own, it’s up to you. Either way, we guarantee you will enjoy yourself while supporting a great cause.

George Washington’s Birthday Parade

February is the month of George Washington’s birthday and we make sure to celebrate here in DC. The greatest celebration takes place in Alexandria, VA with a celebratory parade. This parade is an important tradition, dating back to 1923. Bands, floats, wagons, horses, military units, and drill teams are a few of the special guest performances you will see throughout the parade course. Alexandria, located near George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, is a great place to explore. The cobblestone streets and historic buildings make the parade even better. George Washington’s Birthday Parade is a nice switch up from Valentine’s Day festivities, and something definitely worth attending.
