5 Can’t-Miss September Events in DC
Even though summer has come to an end, life in the District will not be slowing down. As the temperatures begin to drop and fall weather is upon us, it is a beautiful time to get outside and enjoy the city. There is no shortage of events in DC this season, as the fall brings in a new wave of events and activities to participate in, including music and art festivals, the fair, and more. Our top five September events in DC are below, and there are plenty of other happenings throughout the city to enjoy as well!
DC Shorts Film Festival
The DC Shorts Film Festival is one of the largest collections of short films in the United States. Over 130 films from around the world have been selected for 18 different showcases, all of which will be released to the public throughout the ten-day festival. The length, cost, and location of the showcases and films vary, but there is a detailed schedule available online for any questions you might have. In addition to the film showings throughout the District, they will be available to watch online as well.

Wanderlust 108
Unity, Wholeness, and Infinite Love: the themes of Wanderlust 108. This day-long festival is a mindfulness triathlon consisting of a 5k run, an outdoor yoga flow class, and a guided meditation. It is a day to bring the community together with a focus on wellness and fun. For those that aren’t interested in the running portion, there are tickets available for just yoga and meditation. Additionally, there are a variety of add-ons including a picnic lunch and a Manduka matt concierge. Good vibes and good times are a guarantee at Wanderlust 108.

DC State Fair
It doesn’t get much better than a fall weekend at the fair. Head to the Southwest Waterfront on September 23rd for the 9th annual DC State Fair. The fair is a day-long celebration of all things homegrown – agriculture, local creative talent, and more. Enjoy delicious food, a pet parade, a wide variety of vendors, and more. There will be contests as well! Hula Hoop, Double Dutch, Ice Cream Eating, and Watermelon Seed Spitting are just a few of the fun contests visitors can partake in.

H Street Festival
If you want to experience one of the most highly anticipated and attended street festivals in Washington DC, head to H Street on September 15th. The Festival is 11 blocks of live music, performances, children’s programs, heritage arts, and more. Over the span of 12 years, the H Street Festival has grown to a 150,000 participant event in which music and arts are celebrated and appreciated. H Street is a historic neighborhood with a strong focus on the arts, and the festival is an exciting and fun way for everyone to appreciate the neighborhood, its residents, and the importance of art.

Art All Night
Art All Night is an overnight art festival that takes place throughout eight Washington DC neighborhoods. The festival will bring a variety of visual and performing arts to both indoor and outdoor spaces, highlighting 100 different artists. Painting, photography, sculpture, fashion, music, and poetry are just a few of the art forms that will be showcased. The exhibits will vary throughout each neighborhood, but with a free RSVP, you can remain in the loop on all neighborhood happenings leading up to the big night.
