Winter and the colder temperatures are coming, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun! November is packed with both indoor and outdoor events to enjoy and the holiday season is upon us, bringing even more action to the city. Forget about the cold that is creeping in, bundle up and get outside to enjoy all that DC has to offer this November. From DC Beer Fest to honoring our Veterans, November is sure to be an exciting month. Our top five can’t-miss DC events this November are below, and we hope you enjoy them just as much as we plan to!

DC Beer Fest

Spend the first Saturday of November at Nationals Park for the annual DC Beer Festival. Sip on over 200 beers from 80 different breweries while playing lawn games, dancing to the DJ, and wandering through Nat’s Park. Admission into the festival is $45 and includes unlimited tastings of the beers. There will be a number of food trucks on site as well to enjoy. Sip on a seasonal fall beer while taking in the sights of Nat’s Park for the perfect Saturday afternoon.

Veteran’s Day at Arlington National Cemetery

Veteran’s Day is a time to honor all veterans who served and continue to serve our country. There is no better place in the District to honor them than Arlington National Cemetery. The Veteran’s Day ceremony begins with a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and continues into the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors. The event is free, but they recommend arriving by 9:30 as these honorary events get very crowded. Take time out of your Veteran’s Day Sunday to honor and thank our Veterans.

DC Cocktail Week

DC Cocktail Week is back, and it is hard not to get into the “spirit” for this. For one week, explore the 60+ participating restaurants to try new cocktails, meet local mixologists, and snack on specially paired foods with your drinks. On November 1st, DC Cocktail Week is hosting a Sneak Peek Happy Hour at Wild Days from 5 – 7 PM. Tickets to the happy hour include tastings of cocktails from participating restaurants, spirit tastings for the distilleries, and hors-d’oeuvres from Wild Days.

Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5k and One Mile Fun Run

Get in a pre-turkey workout and give back to the community at the Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5k. So Others May Eat (SOME) hosts this Thanksgiving Day Run in order to benefit the homelessness and hunger here in DC. Your registration helps provide food, clothing, and healthcare to people in need that SOME serves. There is a Little Turkey One Mile Fun Run that benefits SOME as well. There is no better way to show thanks than giving back to those in need on Thanksgiving Day.

National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Thanksgiving has passed, but the holiday celebrations in DC will continue on. Every year, Washington DC celebrates Christmas for three weeks, and the lighting of the National Christmas Tree kicks off these celebrations. Each state provides ornaments for the tree so that it represents the Nation as a whole. During the Lighting Ceremony, there are nationally known entertainers present, a performance from a military band, and a speech from the President. While this event requires tickets, there are ways to view the tree up close at other times.
