Currently Obsessing Over: The KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachement

If you spend more than 10 minutes with me, you’ll learn two things. The only thing I love more than a fancy new tech gadget is food! Combine those two loves, and you’re sure to have my full attention. {Also, this easily explains my Pinterest addiction!} Anyway, I’ve been a fan of the healthy eating trend, spiralizing for a couple of years now. Ever since Maddie and I made zoodles and basil-walnut pesto one night, I was hooked. While my handheld spiralizer was ideal for zucchini or squash, it couldn’t handle any hardy vegetables. {No root veggies for moi} I had a total case of FOMO every time I saw perfect carrot or sweet potato spirals. So when I saw the KitchenAid spiralizer a couple of weekends ago, I made a total impulse purchase. And guys, it’s AMAZING.

Here’s why I am obsessed with the KitchenAid spiralizer

  1. It’s super easy to use. Even without reading the instructions, the attachment was set up in three minutes flat. The spiralizer attaches easily right to the front of the mixer’s motor mount. I have to say; I appreciate that there are less than five parts. {Less chance of losing something!}

  1. It seriously handled anything I threw its way; apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, etc.

  1. Clean up is a breeze. It’s easier to clean than my handheld spiralizer. Also, as noted above, it’s only a few parts.

  1. It majorly cuts down meal prep time. This machine is a beast. Cutting down an entire sweet potato in 19 seconds…compared to me hand cranking or, heaven forbid, julienning. Winning back a few minutes is always a plus for me!

  1. It’s a sneaky way to eat more veggies. If you can swap out pasta for veggies once or twice a week…that can make a huge difference in your calorie and vitamin intake!  Spiralizing seemingly creates volume out of thin air. {Admittedly, this is true whether you use a hand crank or the mechanized spiralizer…it’s just one of my favorite things about spiralizing} One zucchini can turn out cups and cups of spiralized ribbons, tricking you into thinking you’re consuming more without the penalty of added calories. It’s all about the psychology of fooling the eyes and the time it takes to chomp down all those veggie ribbons.

  1. It makes any meal prettier…and who doesn’t want more beauty in their lives? Don’t take my word for it, check out these gorgeous plates!
