Located just north of Georgetown is Glover Park, a Northwest Washington D.C. neighborhood known for its close-knit community, laid back feel, and up and coming restaurant scene. Glover Park is also known for being a younger community. With both Georgetown and American University near by, many students populate the area. Additionally, young families flock to this area due to the high end schooling options for children. There are many restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and more scattered throughout the neighborhood, giving residents access to most things they need on a daily basis. All in all, Glover Park is a homey neighborhood that is quickly turning into one of D.C.’s most popular areas.
_______________
Our Favorite Brunch Spot
Town Hall is a Glover Park classic, and a brunch spot that will never do you wrong. Town Hall features a classic brunch menu, and each item is perfectly executed every time. The service is reliable, and you can always count on there being a fun crowd no matter what time of day it is. The environment at town hall is great as well – you can enjoy the outdoor patio with a large group, or go for the more secluded feel in their large secluded booths. The brunch menu is served every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 – 3:30 and includes everything you could want and more – items range from omelets and eggs Benedict to falafel burgers and steak and eggs. They have the typical brunch cocktails that you would typically expect, but are known for a killer Bloody Mary. If you are looking for the best brunch in Glover, Town Hall is delicious, reliable, and always an enjoyable experience.
Our Favorite Happy Hour Spot
Breadsoda is a 70’s style bar located in Glover Park that we can’t get enough of. It has a different feel to it than your standard D.C. happy hour – pool tables, darts, and shuffleboard make for an extremely laid-back happy hour environment. Happy Hour takes place Monday – Friday from 4pm – 7pm, Wednesday from 4pm – 2am, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm – 7pm. Happy Hour deals include $4 for select beers, wines, and cocktails. While there aren’t typically food deals for Happy Hour, their standard menu has several small plates and appetizers to choose from. If you are looking for a low-key happy hour spot with great deals, Breadsoda is the place to go in Glover Park.
Best Place To Work Up A Sweat
Noteworthy yoga studios are all over the District, you can find a great one in almost every neighborhood you go to. Regardless, our favorite is CorePower Yoga located in Glover Park. CorePower Yoga offers a high intensity workout in every class you will attend. Whether it is a Sculpt class, any level of the Power classes, or Hot Power Fusion, you will leave the studio feeling refreshed, stronger, and more in tune with your mind and body. Each class challenges you while also guiding you in mind-body connection. The Glover Park studio is conveniently located off of Wisconsin Avenue, right in the center of the neighborhood. The studio is spacious, clean, and will make you feel at home with its strong focus on community. Your first week at CorePower is free, and afterwards there are several class packs and packages to choose from. For the best workout in the neighborhood, CorePower is the place to go.
Best Way To Get Around
When traveling throughout Glover Park, walking is the best way to get around. Pretty much everything you might need on a day-to-day basis is located right in the neighborhood. Residents have the luxury of being able to walk to grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, shops, and more. Traveling outside of the neighborhood is not quite as convenient – Glover Park is a bit more secluded than other D.C. neighborhoods, and public transportation isn’t as prominent here. The closest Metro is two miles away, and accessibility in and out of the City is not as convenient here. There are nine bus stops passing through the neighborhood, but other than that, public transportation is not as prominent here. Because of this, traveling by foot within the neighborhood, and by car outside of the neighborhood is most convenient.
Neighborhood Lifestyle
Glover Park is a tight-knit community. The residents range from students, to young families, to retirees, yet everyone is very engaged and in touch with the community. Young couples are moving in and not leaving, so the neighborhood’s family feel isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The nearby schools also have a huge impact – whether it is students, or young professionals out of school, both Georgetown and American University bring a lot of residents into the Glover area. Glover Park’s charming, relaxed, and homey feel have people flocking to live here.
What You Won’t Find
The common D.C. theme of Public Transportation is not something you will find in Glover Park. With the most convenient means of public transportation being the bus, and the closest metro two miles away, residents do not typically rely on public transportation to get around. The neighborhood is okay with this though – they believe that it keeps the price of the neighborhood down, and it helps maintain the homey neighborhood aspect that they pride themselves on.
