Santa Monica City Guide | Moving To Santa Monica

It’s always sunny in Philadelphia Santa Monica! With an average of 310 days of sunshine a year, we’re not sure if it’s caused by the actual sun or because Santa Monica is home to some of Hollywood’s brightest stars. One thing that we do know is Santa Monica is one of the most desirable places to live with excellent shopping, cuisine, outdoor fun, and apartment communities to call home. Come see what makes Santa Monica great!

What to Do

Pacific Park

While there are many things to do on the Santa Monica Pier including the Aquarium, Trapeze School, and Playland Arcade, everyone flocks here for Pacific Park, a family amusement park. Take a ride on the world’s only solar powered Ferris Wheel while enjoying breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica.

Third St. Promenade

The promenade is a popular destination for both locals and tourists due to its variety of shops ranging from upscale, luxury shopping malls to independent boutiques. Once your legs tire out, grab a bite to eat or drink at one of the many restaurants with outdoor seating . The promenade is typically lined with talented street performers and entertainers making it a great place to people watch.

Palisades Park

Palisades Park is one of our favorite parks in the country due to its location and pure beauty! The park is conveniently situated between the ocean and the promenade and is lined with art and sculptures, shady trees, gardens begging you to have a picnic, and plenty of food trucks so you don’t get hangry.

Bergamot Station

The Bergamot Station art complex is a cultural destination with multiple galleries and a cafe so art aficionados can hang here all day. There is parking in the center of the complex allowing visitors to park and walk around from gallery to gallery. The best part about Bergamot Station is that it’s completely free!

Annenburg Beach House

This 5 acre beach front property was a mansion built back in the 1920’s and has since transformed into a public space for families to visit for free! The property has a fantastic beach with courts and fields to play volleyball or tennis, a game room, and a historic pool. To use the pool, visitors must pay a small fee. Plan your visit today!

Where to Eat/Drink

Breakfast: Bru’s Wiffle – A Waffle Joint

This comfortable and inviting restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica puts a unique twist on the classic Belgian waffle. While you can order traditional breakfast options like their Big Breakfast or the Eggs Benedict, you’ll immediately regret not ordering one of the creative waffle combinations. Break one of the oldest (and most overrated) rules in the book and order dessert for breakfast, a Banana Split Waffle topped with ice cream! With 7 different style chicken and waffles recipes including a Gluten Free option, Bru’s Wiffle is sure to have something for everyone.

Lunch: True Food Kitchen

True Food Kitchen prides itself on serving honest food without sacrificing taste. The menu consists of delicious salads, sandwiches, pizza, and entrees to pair with one of their freshly made juices. Favorites include the turkey wrap and the seasonal salad made with fresh, local ingredients. If you’re looking to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy delicious flavors, then True Food is the place for you. Insider Tip: For your side, ask for half sweet potatoes and half kale salad, you can thank us later.

Dinner: The Upper West

Executive Chef Nick Shipp combines flavors from all over the world to create innovative dishes at this modern american restaurant. The 28 foot ceilings and rustic decor give the restaurant a relaxed and cool vibe that is enhanced even more once you’ve ordered a carefully crafted cocktail. The menu is constantly changing but features appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees like Miso Glazed Duck and Apple Meatballs and the Braised Short Ribs.

Happy Hour: The Lobster

Happy hour at The Lobster runs every Monday-Friday from 4:30-6:30. The views of the Santa Monica Pier should make you happy enough, but the Lobster also has great food and drink specials that will take your happiness to the next level. Drink specials include $4.00 draft beers and $6.00 specialty cocktails like the Lobster Margarita (no, there’s not real lobster in it) and their Famous Mojito. For food, the oysters of the day are a perfect snack at just $2 each but the favorite item is the Santa Monica Style Lobster Roll (yes, there’s real lobster in it).

Bar/Lounge: The Bungalow

You can’t say you’ve truly experienced Santa Monica until you’ve gone to The Bungalow. The location on Ocean Blvd. just across the street from Palisades Park makes this low-profile lounge an ideal spot to watch the sunset over the Pacific. There are 5 different rooms that blend together seamlessly, giving visitors the feeling that they’re at a huge house party in an ocean front home. Try one of their tasty cocktails like the Kick in the Junk or the Bitchin’ Sangria and prepare to relax and enjoy the good company around you.
