5 Can’t-Miss March Events in DC

We don’t know about you, but for us, March reminds us there is light at the end of this winter tunnel. While we haven’t completely escaped the colder temperatures, spring is near and that is a beautiful thing. With the spring season upon us, you can expect to see an increase of weekend events throughout the District, especially outdoor events. A major highlight? The Cherry Blossoms. The Cherry Blossoms inspire many of the events that will take place over the course of the next month or so. Saint Patrick’s Day and the Nat’s are another few things we are very excited about. Get ready for a great spring here in the District, things are just getting started!

Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, & 5K

Lace up those sneakers, because spring season = racing season here in the District. Rock ‘n’ Roll DC is the first major race to kick of the season, and it does not disappoint (even if you aren’t a runner). The city comes alive on race day when the runners hit the pavement, and the streets are lined with cheerleaders and spectators all morning long. Rock ‘n’ Roll is a particularly fun race, as live music is set up along the course to help keep the runners going strong. The crowds and live entertainment make Rock ‘n’ Roll a fun race for everyone, whether you are a runner or a cheering on your favorite runner.

The Cherry Blossom PUB – Spring Party

We love all things Cherry Blossom related, but the Cherry Blossom Pop Up Bar is definitely our favorite. This is the PUB’s third year returning to DC, and we can’t wait to check it out. Sip and socialize in either the ramen-inspired room featuring noodles and chopstick sculptures or the Versailles’ Fontaine de L’Encelade themed garden room, either will leave you speechless. Delicious cherry blossom themed beverages are on the menu along with the ever-famous ramen by UZU. To celebrate the first day of spring, the Cherry Blossom PUB is hosting a Spring Party on March 20th. The $20 ticket will give you entry into the bar for two hours, and all proceeds go to the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

When: Wednesday, March 20th, 2019
Where: 7th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001
How Much: $20

National Cherry Blossom Festival

We’ve said it once, and we will say it again – we love the Cherry Blossoms and all the hype that surrounds them. The National Cherry Blossom Festival brings an exciting spring feeling to the District – the blossoms are blooming (hopefully), outdoor events are back on the calendar, and warm and sunny days are upon us. The Cherry Blossoms were a gift to DC in 1923 from the Mayor of Tokyo, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival honors this gift every spring. The festival consists of several events over the course of the month, including the Pink Tie Party, Opening Ceremony, Petalpalooza, and more.

When: Events begin March 22nd and last through April 13th, 2019
Where: Locations Vary
Cost:  Costs Vary by Event

National Capital Barbecue Battle

Nothing says spring like the return of baseball season. Grabbing a bite to eat and a drink in Navy Yard then heading over to Nat’s Park is one of our favorite activities during the spring, and the opportunity to do that is right around the corner. Opening Day at Nat’s Park is always an ordeal – the neighborhood is full of excitement, restaurants offer deals, and team spirit is at an all-time high. The Nationals will take on the New York Mets, and we are ready to see a big win.

When: Thursday, March 28th, 2019 | 1:35 PM
Where: National’s Park
How Much: $11+
